Kyrgyzstan

My trip to Kyrgyzstan is large in my memory. What a rich beautiful country. The Switzerland of Central Asia. Not that I have ever been to Switzerland. I felt like I was Heidi running in the meadows up in the alps with the goats and Peter, picking bunches of wildflowers . We climbed this mountain during our time - we reached the summit of over 3000 metres. We walked through a thick forest while going up - the ground was wet and boggy and it was hard going. However, Anatole assured us that we would have panoramic views from the top - indeed we did!

We could see across to Lake Issy Kul and the snow covered mountains behind. We found many clumps of eidelweis growing at the top - it is a beautiful flower - quite like the Australian Flannel flower. Apparently, it can no longer be found in Switzerland.

This walk was a highlight of my time in Kyrgyzstan. The views and scenery changed minute by minute - I could just sit and look for hours.

Snapshot from Tuesday

What a gorgeous Sydney day it is today. Susannah and I had lunch together at our kitchen table. The sun shone through the windows over the table. Leek and corn soup - delicious. I made it for the BAD dinner on Sunday night and was a big hit. Susannah has completed her textiles project - a cause for much celebration. It is magnificent.
