Gum Leaf at Mount Beauty

It was cold and frosty.  There had been snow.  What a contrast to nine months earlier, when we had almost been evacuated due to the bushfires.  We found gum leaves that were almost 45 cm long.  Every year they have a competition for locals to see who can find the longest gum leaf.  The record is around 80 cm from memory.  Where we stayed we looked out at Mount Bogong with a snow capped top.  Keith would love to climb to the summit, but then he always wants to reach the highest point of any destination.  It was pleasant to sit before a wood fire, in warmth and idle away a day quilting, reading my book and watching the entire first series of West Wing.
